Aum Bhoor Bhuwah Swaha,
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasaya Dheemahi
Dhiyo Yo Naha Prachodayat
This mantra has been interpreted in different ways all leading to the same conclusion but in different words... these are two meanings that I found...
"May we attain that excellent glory of Savitar - the god:So may he stimulate our prayers."—The Hymns of the Rigveda (1896), Ralph T.H. Griffith
We meditate to the source of the physical, astral & heavenly spheres of existence, who is fit to be worshipped, who is the embodiment of knowledge and light, and who is the remover of all sins and ignorance. May that Supreme Divine Being enlighten our intellect and guide us on the right path.
I also found this wonderful site that talks about Gayatri Meditation and the benefits of the mantra... you can have a look at this link for further information - http://gayatrimantrameditation.googlepages.com/ScienceandBenefitsofGayatriMantra.jpg/ScienceandBenefitsofGayatriMantra-full.jpg
I hope we have learnt a little more about the most powerful mantra. There is much more to this other than just words.
